Galbanum Essential Oil, Wildcrafted, 5 ml.

$14.00

Origin: Turkey

Galbanum has been famous for thousands of years. It was often added to bath water as well as ointments. It can also be burned as incense. It is traditionally described as “green” and sharp but after the first impression, one detects woody and spicy notes.

It has many therapeutic benefits and is sometimes used to alleviate scarring due to acne and toxins. It can also be considered when there are stretch marks or wrinkles due to aging.  It is often used for wound healing and for treating topical fungal infections. Galbanum is purifying and tissue rejuvenating. As such, it can be used to promote wound healing.

Galbanum is decongesting and this action can be seen in the nasal passages and lungs as well as blood and lymph. It is an insecticide and parasiticide and like most substances that reduce the parasite load, galbanum often alleviates the aches and pains associated with arthritis.

Because of the terpenes in galbanum, we do not suggest prolonged exposure to the vapor nor ingestion.  We thus urge that this be considered primarily for external use.

Contents: 100% pure steam distilled wildcrafted Ferula galbaniflua resin.

Warning:  Some sources suggest that Galbanum should not be combined with Juniper.

GCMS Analysis

Galbanum consists of about 70% sabinene and β-pinene, both common constituents of plants.  Sabinene is a spicy terpene and antioxidant that is also found in black pepper and nutmeg as well as juniper berries and carrot seeds.  Studies suggest it is protective against both streptococcus and staphylococcus bacteria.

β-pinene is another monoterpine and shows efficacy against gram positive bacteria.  As the name suggests, the scent is due to the same chemicals found in pine.  So, this constituent is highly aromatic and mood elevating, especially when in tandem with linalool, a component of oils like rosemary and thyme and many other plants.
